Ghana midfielder Abdu Francis scores for Cercle Brugge in dominant win over Olympic de Charleroi

Ghana’s midfielder Abu Francis came off the bench to score for Cercle Brugge in a dominant 3-0 win against Amateur Division side Olympic de Charleroi in the Belgian Cup Round of 32.

The goal on Thursday at the Jan Breydelstadion was the 23-year-old’s first of the season across all competitions.

Cercle Brugge opened the scoring in the 23rd minute through Erick Nunes’ strike from a corner kick.

Abu Francis doubled the lead for the hosts in the 35th minute, capitalizing on a well-timed setup from Kelvin Denkey.

Gary Magnee wrapped up the scoring with three minutes to the end of the game to make it 3-0 and confirm Cercle Brugge’s place in the last 16 of the Belgian Cup.

Abu Francis has featured in 12 games in the Belgium Pro League and provided two assists.

Cercle Brugge will next face Sporting Charleroi in league play on November 3, hoping to carry this momentum forward.
